Should parents or schools be able to discipline kids in any way they choose, within reason? Do you think spanking is abuse? Do you think corporal punishment is abuse? What is the best way to instill discipline in children? ... Meanwhile, The debate over corporal punishment in public schools has made it's way to the Capitol of Louisiana. Get this, Tuesday Representative Barbara Norton, D-Shreveport, took her bill to ban corporal punishment before the House Education Committee. The legislator said, "There are 11,000 children being paddled in school each year," said Norton. "If these children are being whipped in their houses and whipped in the schools, I say to you today, what is it we can do to give that child some stability, to understand somebody cares." The issue caught the attention of lawmakers on the committee, including Representative John Edwards, D-Amite, who allows corporal punishment for his son in school. "On occasion he needs corporal punishment, but everyday he needs to know that it is something that the school can administer, and I believe that," said Edwards. Also watching closely, supporters of Norton's cause, who think corporal punishment is disproportionately used on boys, african americans, poor and disabled students are members of various watchdog groups. In a turn towards justice, and inspection, Eric Holder will overrule the White House wish that we look forward instead of backwards. Well we can't do that - it wouldn't be prudent. The Cheney cabal needs to be brought to justice for their crimes, which are not the American way. The shame and hatred brought to our door by this ruthless man can only be relieved with a few convictions. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. national debt will nearly double over the next 10 years as recession crimps government revenue while spending on retirement and medical benefits soars, official forecasts said on Tuesday. But an estimate by the independent Congressional Budget Office took a somewhat more optimistic view of the fiscal funding gap than a separate White House midsession budget forecast, which projected a cumulative $9 trillion deficit between 2010 and 2019. CBO's judgment pegged this number almost $2 trillion lower, at $7.1 trillion, because it assumed higher tax revenues. The national debt now stands at more than $11 trillion. However, both estimates anticipate a relatively swift decline in the size of the deficit in the years immediately ahead, on the basis of a return to growth in 2010, as the worst U.S. recession since the Great Depression comes to an end.

If you're coming to this show because you had either read the preview on this site, facebook or twitter and/or received an email about Eric Klein being on the show, last minute unavoidable circumstances did not allow Eric to be on the show. We will reschule. However, we were still able to have to dynamite guests on the show with powerful stories of success and helping others. One lady is taking her vocation and turning it into a foundation to help ladies with cancer, take care of a very necessary service. The other person took their passion, even though academia in college gave her a failing grade at one point, and turned it into a very successful business. These stories are well worth listening to as they have much to tell us concerning success and how important the individual is to making their own success happen. Deborah Sardone is the President and CEO of a residential cleaning service Buckets and Bows Maid Service. Through her service, she started a service whereas, if a lady is being treated for cancer, Deborah would ease their burden by cleaning their house for free. That grew into the non profit organization Cleaning for a Reason Foundation, which serves to put cancer patients in touch with cleaning organizations who will offer to clean their house for free. Patti Brassard has taken her passion for art and people and combined them into the business Glazenfyre. There people of all ages and talents can come together and with expert help and a desire for fun and make truly lasting love filled memories and come away with some darn good ceramics as well.

Last week a couple crashed the state dinner at the White House. They not only crashed the dinner, they also met President Obama in a reception line at the event and took a picture - Wow! I was so amazed and disappointed that something like this could occur at the White House. How could this couple get this close to the President? How did this happen? What is really going on! What kind of message have they delivered? Does it merely take a fancy dress, a day at the spa and a limo to get into an event at the White House? It appears that this couple also “crashed” another event hosted by a Black organization. Let’s have some real dialogue about this matter. Join me this week, as we discuss this matter and assess if this would have occurred if the President was a different race.

The show started oddly, as my kids were dropped off at my house by the grandparents two minutes before the show started...so I broke out a segment from the NPR show "Wait, Wait...Dont Tell Me." My mom thought my show was over, and she graciously took my kids to Disney on Ice, so she gets a pass. Once the show got back underway, we had a solid effort. I had several guests from the Dameshek.com message board, including Major Minority, Face Ventura, and The Whale. We discussed apologizing as an epidemic which naturally led to a good conversation about Tiger Woods. After discussing how we needed to "Leave Tiger Woods alone" complete with my wonderful singing pipes being broadcast for all to hear, we did a Contender-Pretender segment on NFL teams. We finished off by taking a page from the LCS Hockey Show and talking a little bit of hockey. Actually, it was almost exclusively Florida Panthers hockey, which is not exactly a scintillating topic, but it was a fun conversation and it allowed me to plug the Dan Lebotard show. The BlogTalk switchboard gave out on me and didnt allow me to play any more clips, so the Vertically Striped Music recommendation will have to wait until next week.

Well, it was hard to tell just where the buck stopped Tuesday when it came to the Democratic party's loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat that had been held by Edward M. Kennedy for nearly half a century. Days before Republican state Sen. Scott Brown officially captured the seat over Democrat Martha Coakley, Washington to Boston began dodging blame and pointing fingers at each other. Cool-headed analysis of what was driving independents from Coakley to Brown? No. The issue was who botched Democrat Martha Coakley's Senate campaign more: her state people or national Democrats. Most spoke the classic Washington way, under the cloak of anonymity. But President Barack Obama's senior adviser took precise, public aim at Coakley's camp as Brown closed in on the late Sen. Edward Kennedy's seat. "I think the White House did everything we were asked to do," David Axelrod told reporters. "Had we been asked earlier, we would have responded earlier." But the signs had been there. In the bluest of blue states, the election was seen, at least in part, as a referendum on Obama, on health care reform, on the Democratic majority that had controlled two of three branches of government for a year. And the Republican candidate was surging. What of Obama himself? "Surprised and frustrated," reported White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, promising more presidential reaction Wednesday. On April 28, 2010, the Office of Public Liaison hosted a town hall meeting for NGO representatives, business leaders, and academic officials to discuss the White House Entrepreneurship Summit, which took place April 26-27 in Washington, DC. In addition to the in-person audience students and faculty from Babson College, Duke University, and the University of Central Florida participated in the discussion via video conference. The town hall featured remarks by Special Representative to Muslim Communities Farah Pandith and Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference Rashad Hussain, as well as E-Summit delegate Asim Siddiqui, a community organizer from the UK. Each emphasized the importance of U.S. engagement with Muslim communities and working together to build entrepreneurial partnerships. In his June 2009 Cairo speech, President Obama announced that the U.S. would host a Summit on Entrepreneurship to identify how we can strengthen ties between business leaders, foundations, and entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world. Co-hosted by the Departments of Commerce and State, the Summit brought together more than 275 participants from over 50 countries. The Summit highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as a way of building relationships that lead to greater opportunity at home and abroad. I never thought I would see the day post-Obama's election, that the media would label the White House, under the leadership of the first African American President, as too white. Most of us were doing the dance with our beloved initially, trying to help him mentally navigate his way through the title, President of the United States, by suggestive supportive lines such as, "He's not the President of Black America, he's the President of The United States of America"...ad nauseum...But has our personal pep talk back-fired? Are we still on the outside looking in, consoling ourselves with this sincere, but over-extended premise that Obama is NOT to deliberately reach out to blacks for fear of being labeled as pro-black? What's really going on? Why have we deluded ourselves into thinking that the color line issue has been erased?

If you watch the news or listen to any form of media related to current events and politics, you are well aware of the issues surrounding the Shirley Sherrod mishap. Mrs. Sherrod was preemptively judged by a sound bite of a video where she expressed her inner feelings in terms of helping a white farmer in lieu of the racism experienced by blacks, but concluded with a set of core values that are consistent with equal rights and of course, she did the right thing. After the sound bites hit the media, many people took a proverbial bite out of Mrs. Sherrod, but later revised their statements after "the rest of the story was heard." The NAACP was compelled to offer an apology for pre-judging her comments. While the USDA and the White House had some extreme back peddling to do, offering Mrs. Sherrod her job back. She even received a personal call from President Barack Obama expressing his remorse over the fiasco. The national media was quick to use this episode to launch racial opinions about the White House. Last week, in an op-ed piece for the New York Times Maureen Dowd wrote, The White House Is Too White.” In that same article she referenced the NAACP’s Georgia chapter president, our guest tonight , Mr. Edward Dubose wondering why Ben Jealous President of the NAACP rushed to judgment without calling Mr. Dubose. How will the NAACP get back on target with the pledge and the business of confronting the fringe elements of racism that are present at Tea Party rallies and meetings across the nation?

When I saw this story where officials in Denair California TOLD a middle school student to take the US flag off his bike for his own safety and to avoid racial tension because people at the school were complaining about him displaying the flag of OUR COUNTRY, however it is okay for Hispanic students to display the Mexican flag during Cinco de Mayo holiday is totally BS. Where has this country come to when people have to be afraid of retaliation for proudly displaying old glory? It is unfortunate that it took pressure from around the country to force the school to apologize to Cody and to allow him to display the flag on his bike. So what do you think? Should this type of attitude be allowed, should we be embarrassed to fly old glory? Have we really become a country where we are embarrassed to be an American? The racist white administration has stolen, manipulated, and operated the votes, voting machines, and ballot for too long. He has misused democracy from the white house to the streets. He has murdered, any leader, who has stood for the blackman or humanity. So we have decided, this time, "We are taking the ballot and you are taking the bullet!" The blackman has learned and has to submerged his differences. In this country, and around the world, we know that we are facing the same problems, from the same enemy. An enemy who gives hell and it does not matter whether you are a Black Baptist, Methodist, Muslim, or Black Nationalist. This is nothing new to the blackman. Minister Malcolm X prophesized this over forty years ago! This is nothing new to the blackman! Whether you are educated or illiterate, whether you live on the boulevard or in the alley, whether you are in the north or in the south, You are catching the same hell as I. Whether you accept it or not the blackman is united by one common thread called poverty; and the levels thereof. The black vote is like a bullet! Each blackmans vote is like a bullet. Anyone who knows how to use a gun knows that you dont shoot unless you have a clear shot at the target. If that target is not in reach, then you dont waste your bullet. The blackman is becoming, politically, conscious through unity and non-alignment. He understands that he is the swing vote, even though he has no faith in the political process of election and electoral candidacy. This means that when the white people are divided he has a block of votes of his own. We understand, literally, that we can decide who will go to the "White House or the "Dog House." Primarily, I have no confidence in the voting process. However, to destroy past task masters and house negro salaries, by sending them to the dog house. This is something that I can truly enjoy.
